Result: Bridgend ‘B’ 5; Trinity St. Davids 2

Bridgend played their final league game of the season against a spirited and much improved University side from Trinity St. Davids, based in Lampeter.

Bridgend had to work hard in the opening exchanges, with good play being worked from Steve Price, Jeremy Ingram and Rhydian Lewis in midfield to bring widemen
James King and Andy Davis in to play, from which forwards Jack Steer and youngster Matthew Hibbert worried the students defence.
Such pressure was rewarded when Steve McIntosh scored with a well directed shot from a penalty corner to give Bridgend the lead, but students continued to put
attacks together but the Bridgend defence of Steve Sloan, John Thomas, Tony Price and Steve McIntosh were able to intercept and clear.

Bridgend struggled to get in to their passing game, until Steve Price struck the ball well to Jack Steer who was able to beat the goalkeeper with a square pass to
Matthew Hibbert who took his chance well to put Bridgend two goals ahead.
Two further goals resulted from better and quick passing with Rhydian Lewis scoring with a firm shot from the edge of the circle, after good work from James King and
Matthew Daley, followed by a narrow angled shot and goal from Matthew Hibbert.

Bridgend’s play in the second half showed end of season effects, with play becoming scrappy and passing becoming wayward, until Jack Steer latched on to a
through ball in front of goal and beat the goalkeeper with a crisp shot.

As Bridgend relaxed, the students scored with two late goals that gave skipper and goalkeeper Cliff Harrison, who generally had a quiet game, no chance to save on
those occasions.

However, the skipper was pleased with the season’s performance, ending up second in the league, and thanks his players for the work commitment shown during the
